Female elephant found dead in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: In yet another case of jumbo death in the State, a female elephant was found dead in Anlakata forest under Mahabir Road Forest Range under Dhenkanal district on Thursday.

The pachyderm death came to light after some locals who had been to their farmlands located on the outskirts of the village came across the carcass and called up forest department officials.

Forest officials rushed to the spot immediately and made arrangements for the autopsy of the dead jumbo after preliminary investigation.

While it is being suspected that the elephant might have died due to sickness, the truth will be revealed soon, said the forest team.
