Balasore : A security guard was found dead at his rented house in Gudipada under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Badha Marandi, a resident of Sarisabani area in Mayurbhanj district. He was posted as a security guard at a godown of Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Gudipada.

According to reports, Marandi was staying alone in a rented house in Gudipada since a long period of time. However, a woman was seen staying with him in the house since last two months.

Marandi was scheduled to join his duty at 8 PM last night but he didn’t turn up. Following which, his colleagues telephoned him many times but their repeated calls remained unanswered.

Today morning, a neighbour of Marandi, who was also his colleague, found him in a pool of blood in the house when he visited the latter’s house to enquire about him. He alerted the locals about the incident and called the police.

The woman, who was staying with Marandi, was not present in the house this morning, the neighbour claimed.

On being informed, police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.

“The security guard was attacked  with a sharp weapon on his neck. Prima facie it appeared that it was a murder case,” police said.
