Father-son thrashed in Pattamundai Kangaroo Court: 6 including 2 Sarpanchs held

Kendrapara: At least 6 persons including two Sarpanchs have been arrested in the father-son thrashing at Pattamundai Kangaroo Court incident. Kendrapara Additional SP informed that the Sarpanchs of Balipala and Bijaynagar, the husband of a Samiti Sabhya and other three persons were arrested in this connection.

Hundreds of men and women had protested near Mahadev Filling Station located in Sahu Pada in Sanamohanpur panchayat demanding action in the said incident. They had demanded arrest of the accused persons.

Apart from that tension erupted as some people started pelting stones to the house of the Petrol pump owner.

As per the complaint, a father-son duo had been thrashed alleging their involvement in the theft of Rs 1. 97 lakh from the petrol pump in Kendrapara district on October 8. The petrol pump staff Gangadhar Nath and his minor son from Bijayanagar had been taken to the house of Ashok Pati, the owner of the petrol pump.

The Sarpanchs of Sanamohanpur panchayat Rabindra Behera, sarpanch of Bijayanagar Somnath Tripathy, Balipal Sarpanch Panchanan Swain and husband of a Samiti Sabhya Tapan Rout were present there. It was alleged that both the victims were thrashed and they were also given electric shock.

After a video in this connection to this incident went viral Police started investigation. Later, on October 13 the stolen money was found from a place behind the petrol pump. However, the petrol pump owner had allegedly intimidated the father son duo not to reveal anything in this regard.
