Boudh: A man and his son have been arrested for allegedly trying to set fire to the Mundeswar Reserve Forest under Madhapur Forest Range in Boudh district in Odisha on Sunday night.
The accused have been identified as Asana Majhi and his son Shyamghana Majhi of Madhapur Colony Sahi.
According to reports, the Forest Department officials were on patrolling near the Mundeswar Reserve Forest when they spotted fire in four places of the jungle. The officials caught Asana and Shyamaghana red-handed while they were attempting to escape from the spot after setting up the fire.
Ranger Saroj Mishra, Forester Swadhin Samal, Forest Conservator Satish Ranjan and Fire Department officials were present during the raid.
The officials have seized one matchstick box and two sharp weapons from the accused.
The father-son duo will be forwarded to the court today, said sources.
