Father Issued Challan For Traffic Violation By Minor Son In Odisha

Cuttack: The father of a minor boy was issued with a challan of Rs 6000 for traffic violations committed by his son under the amended MV Act.

As per reports, the minor boy driving a two-wheeler without wearing helmet was caught by traffic personnel at Madhupatna Chhak in the city. The minor boy was also using his mobile phone while driving.

Police said that while Rs 5000 was imposed as penalty for using mobile phone while driving, another Rs 1000 was imposed for driving without helmet.

Meanwhile police have intensified its crackdown on traffic violators in the state from today. Earlier the Odisha government has extended the deadline for implementation of the new traffic rules under the amended MV Act for three months in view of heavy rush at the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state.

However the relaxation will be applicable for vehicle related documents. “ As per the decision of the government, the relaxation is only applicable for vehicle related documents but not for general traffic offences such as driving without helmet, triple riding, drunken driving and use of mobile phone while driving,” said a police official.
