Jajpur: In a shocking incident, an elderly man was killed in cudgel attack by his son over a land dispute in Palatapur village under Dasarathpur block in the district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Radheshaym Behera of the same village.
As per the report, Radheshyam had a long running dispute with his son identified as Pramod Behera over a plot. Both the party had also taken legal course in the issue and the court had clamped prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC on the disputed piece of land.
However, last night the father-son duo indulged in a verbal duel over the land dispute which later escalated into a heated argument. Subsequently, the duo lost cool and started attacking each other with cudgels inflicting critical injuries on each other.
The critical duo was rushed to Mangalpur CHC by their families late in the same night, where Radheshyam succumbed.
Police have detained the accused son in connection with the incident and his interrogation is on.
