Farmers observe 12-hr bandh in Odisha town

Sonepur:  A 12-hour bandh is being observed by farmers in Birmaharajpur town of Subarnapur district today.

According to reports, hundreds of farmers are observing the bandh under the banner of Birmaharajpur Farmer Council. They have called the bandh in the town over non-fulfilment of their several demands including the price, prestige and pension.

The agitators were seen staging road blockades at several locations following which vehicular movement was affected in the town.

Shops and several business establishments also remained closed due to the bandh.

The district administration has deployed adequate police personnel in the area to avoid any untoward incidents during the bandh.
