Farmer hangs himself to death over loan burden in Odisha

Balangir: A farmer hung himself to death in Dorlo village under Titlagarh police limits in Balangir district on Monday after finding him unable to repay the loan taken for agriculture.

The deceased has been identified as Ghasiram Majhi of the same village.

As per the report, Ghasiram had taken loans from several sources including banks to cultivate his land a few months back. But at a later stage he found it difficult to repay the loan.

After remaining under immense mental stress for past few days Ghasiram hung himself to the ceiling of his house to die this morning.

Local Police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the incident and sent the body for autopsy.
