Farmer electrocuted in Kalahandi; locals block road

man elecrocutedKalahandi: A farmer was killed after coming in contact with a snapped high voltage live wire in Tumura village under Golamunda police limits in the district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Kodi Teji of Tumura village.

Reports say Teji was heading towards his farmland in the village this morning when he came in contact with the live wire. The victim reportedly unwittingly touched an 11 KV live wire which had snapped and fallen on a tree by the side of the road and died on the spot.

After the news of Teji’s death spread in the village hundreds of locals staged a blockade on the Dharmagarh-Sinapali road keeping the dead body on the road and demanded suitable compensation for the kin of the deceased.

Police had not reached the spot till this story was filed.
