Phulbani: A farmer committed suicide in over crop loss in Kilupada village under Nuagaon block in Kandhamal district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Govardhan Mallick.
The deceased was under immense mental stress for past few days after suffering crop loss due to flood triggered by incessant rain, informed his family.
Govardhan consumed pesticide kept at his home for agricultural purpose this morning and turned critical.
Though family members rushed him to hospital for treatment he succumbed under treatment there.
Police have seized the body of the deceased for autopsy after the incident.
