Bhubaneswar: Showing solidarity to the victims of severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ which hit Odisha on May 3, Governor Ganeshi Lal has decided not to hold the ‘At Home’ party this year on the occasion of Independence Day.

The decision was taken by the Governor as a token of respect to the cyclone-ravaged residents of Odisha.

Notably, there is a practice of Governor giving ‘At Home’ parties on the occasion of I-Day as well as  Republic Day celebrations every year at Raj Bhawan. Dignitaries like CM, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Assembly Speaker, ministers and MLAs along with State MPs are invited to the party.

There is a prevailing tradition of the Goernor felicitating the freedom fighters on this occasion.
