Fani Aftermath: World Bank Delegation In Puri For Damage Assessment

Puri:  A delegation of the World Bank arrived here today for ascertaining the damage caused by extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani.

As per reports, one team of the delegation will assess the damage in the affected areas of Puri district, while another will ascertain the damage in Puri city. The delegation will also meet state Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi and hold talks regarding the scale of damage caused due to the cyclone.

Noteworthy, Cyclone Fani hit the coast near Puri on May 3, ravaging entire coastal Odisha. Over a million trees, hundreds of miles of power lines, and innumerable homes and schools have completely been destroyed.

The Odisha government has assessed the extent of damages to be tentatively around Rs 12,000 crore, in a preliminary report submitted to a visiting inter-ministerial team.
