Bhubaneswar: Candidates appearing for the Odisha Civil Services (Mains) Examination have written to the Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department, Odisha Government, requesting for postponement of the exam to cope up with the situation arising out of cyclone ‘Fani’.

In a letter, the aspirants have informed the Principal Secretary that the districts of Puri and Khordha have been severely impacted by cyclone Fani- with basic amenities like electricity and water supply yet to be restored in the affected areas.

They said such a situation is not at all conducive for preparation of the examination, which is scheduled to begin from July 5, 2019.

Emphasising on the fact that candidates in Fani-affected areas are in a disadvantaged position vis-à-vis the rest, the aspirants have requested the authorities to postpone the OCS Main Examination by at least a month so that they get ample time to prepare for it.
