Fake spices manufacturing unit busted in Odisha

Jeypore: In a crackdown on adulteration units, police busted a fake spices manufacturing unit at P.R Petta lane of the town in Koraput district.

The cops also seized a huge cache of raw materials and adulterated spices of several brands including Everest and MDH.

One Harihar Patra has been detained by the police.

According to sources, a team of Jeypore Town Police, acting on a tip-off, raided Patra’s house and seized several items and raw materials worth around Rs 5 lakh for production of duplicate spices. The machinery used for packaging the duplicate spices in branded packets were also seized during the raid.

Police are interrogating Patra to get more information about others involvement in the case.

Speaking about the incident, Inspector In-Charge of Jeypore town police station, Baleswar Giddhi said that the fake spices were transported to Berhampur.
