Fake notes of Rs 1.06 lakh seized in Odisha; 4 arrested

Boudh: The district police on Tuesday seized fake notes of Rs 1.06 lakh and arrested four persons in this connection. Besides, it recovered a colour printing machine, 3 bikes and a car from the possession of the accused persons.

The arrested persons have been identified as Biswapati Sahu of Gaisilat area in Bargarh district, Binod Saha of Bargarh, Bhagwan Meher of Padmapur and Balaram Meher of Sonepur.

Biswapati, the kingpin behind the circulation of the counterfeit notes, was operating the fake note racket from his house along with Binod, Bhagwan and Balaram.

Sources said that the notes were being sent to different places of Sonepur, Balangir and Balasore districts. Bhubaneswar was also another location where the accused used to send the counterfeit notes.

Police are interrogating the accused persons to find out the involvement of others in the case. This is the third instance of the fake note seizure in last three days.

Bhandaripokhari police in Bhadrak district had also yesterday seized as many as 92 fake currency notes of Rs 13,300.  Three persons were arrested in this connection.

Likewise, five persons were arrested by Balasore district on April 15 after cops seized fake currency notes of Rs 1.5 lakh following raids at different places in district.
