fake consultancyBerhampur: Ganjam district police raided the office of a fake consultancy firm in Goshani Nuagaon area of the town that had duped scores of job aspirants of  lakhs of rupees with the promise of jobs offshore and arrested its owner on Monday.

The accused, identified as Subrat Pal of Hatibandha Sahi in Berhampur town, had allegedly collected huge sums of money from job aspirants through a consultancy firm named Royal Consultancy set up by him near the New Bus Stand area. While the consultancy had been operating for the last couple of months it came under police scanner after a group of youths registered a complaint at Nuagaon Police Station on Monday.

In their complaint to the police, yhe duped youths, mostly form Ganjam, Khurda, Puri and Bhadrak districts, have accused the Royal Consultancy owner of collecting Rs 15,000 per candidate for jobs in Singapore but reneging on his promise. They said Pal asked them to surrender their passports and VISAs to his consultancy prior to sending them to Secunderabad in neighbouring Telangana State for a health check-up. But even seven months after the health check-up camp was held, the consultancy firm was not posting them in Singapore, claimed the complainants.

The complainants have demanded immediate refund of the deposited money and return of their passports and VISAs by the job consultancy firm.

On the other hand, Pal has refuted all allegations brought against him and claimed that no fee had been taken from the candidates. He said the group of students who have registered the complaint had actually returned back from Secunderabad leaving their training as Welder and Fitter midway. As the training was essential for the Singapore job, they could not be employed by the company.
