Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police have busted a fake incense stick manufacturing unit in Bhubaneswar today.
Acting on a complaint, a special team of the Commissionerate police conducted a raid on the fake incense stick manufacturing unit that was being run in a rented house at the Brit colony under Badagada police limits and seized incense sticks, raw materials and machinery said to be worth lakhs of rupees.
As per the complaint, the fake factory was running there for the last four years. Incense sticks of more than ten brands were being duplicated here and supplied to a number of districts.
As per reports, not only incense sticks, but the factory was also manufacturing mosquito coils and was supplying to the market. However, after getting complaints from some traders of the original brands, police raided the factory today.
One person has been detained in this connection.
Fake factories are not new to the capital city. Earlier such fake units manufacturing ghee, oil, engine oil, and gutkha have also been busted.
