Fake Doctor arrested in Odisha’s Sundergarh

Rourkela: Sundergarh Town Police on Wednesday arrested a person who was allegedly working as a fake doctor in a government hospital in Odisha’s Sundargarh district for more than three years.

The accused, identified as Padmanava Mukhi Karua, joined Nuagaon Primary Health Centre (PHC) in June 2016 on contractual basis by furnishing forged documents, police said.

The accused doctor was working in this rural hospital on a monthly salary of Rs 55,000. He also got Rs 10,000 per month as rural posting allowance.

Karua had reportedly also worked as a doctor in other organizations such as Rourkela Steel Plant, Indian Railways and Hi-Tech Medical College, Rourkela.

According to his certificates, Karua, a native of Jharkhan, had completed his schooling from Rourkela and cleared MBBS from VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar), Burla, in 2002.

The alleged fraud came to fore after a group of peole from obtained edcational qualifications under RTI Act

Karua’s offence came to fore after a group of people of Nuagaon obtained his educational qualifications under RTI Act and sought the intervention of Sundargarh Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and Public Health Officer (PHO) in this connection .
