Cuttack: Commissionerate police on Thursday unearthed a fake cement manufacturing factory and godown in the Peer Bazar area under Sadar police limits of the town. The manager of the unit has been arrested.
The police seized 340 filled cement bags of DSP Dalmia brand and 25 new empty polythene packs of the same brand.
As per police sources, the factory was manufacturing cement of brands like DSP Dalmia and Ultratech . After receiving specific information on the illegal operation of the factory, a team of Commissionerate police conducted raid in the godown today when the workers were loading the cement bags in a truck, meant for delivering the consignment. The owner of the factory, Rintu Das of Mahanadi Vihar is absconding.
Cement of many reputed brands was being mixed with damaged cement, other raw materials and repackaged with logos of known cement brands and sold.
The police have also recovered the machines used for the mixing of the cement and packaging of bags.
Notably, a fake cement factory running at Jagatpur Industrial Estate in the district was busted in May this year.
