Explosive seized in Odisha village, 3 held

Koraput: Odisha police on Saturday seized huge cache of explosives in Jayantgiri and Karanjguda area under Borigumma police limits in the tribal dominant district of Odisha. At least three persons were also arrested in this connection, informed Borigumma IIC Sagarika Nath, IPS.

The accused have been identified as Sibaram Panigrahi, Subhash Sahu and N Narendra Rao.

“Based on intelligence report, our team seized huge cache of explosives from a house of a stone quarry owner in Jayantgiri and Karanjguda village,” said Sagarika Nath.

“The seized explosives included two bags of ammonium nitrate, 26 packets of electrical detonators, 422 pieces of non-electrical detonators, 38 bundles of safety fuse, few bundles electrical wire and sulphur powder,” she added.

Sources said, the accused during police interrogation admitted that they were running illegal stone quarries in the area and they had stored the explosive materials for blasting their stone quarries.
