Executive Engineer, Culture Officer land in Vigilance net in Odisha

Balasore/Dhenkanal: Launching a crackdown on corrupt officials in the State, Vigilance sleuths today raided offices and properties of two officials in the Balasore and Dhenkanal districts on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.

In the first instance, the anti-corruption bureau officials conducted simultaneous raids at as many as seven places against Balasore drainage division Executive Engineer Basant Panda. His residence in Jail Road area along with in-laws and ancestral house at Amarda road were searched by the sleuths and bank passbooks, jewellery and other valuable items were checked.

Later in the morning, another team of Vigilance Department raided the properties of district culture officer of Dhenkanal, Sukru Swain. Simultaneous raids were conducted at six places including Swain’s office, government quarters in Bhubaneswar and parental house in Berhampur.

While the raids are underway at both the places currently, the exact amount of seized disproportionate assets will be made public once it is completed, informed an official.
