Berhampur: Five excise officials were injured after locals thrashed them while conducting raid at an illegal liquor manufacturing unit at Masanibada village under Jarada police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.
Acting on a tip off, around 25 excise sleuths from Chhatrapur and Chikiti raided a country liquor manufacturing unit in Masanibada village. However, some villagers attacked them which left at least five of them injured. They were rushed to the Chhatrapur Community Health Centre for their treatment.
Sources said that some of the excise personnel are said to be still detained by the irate locals.
