Ex-panchayat samiti member found dead in Jatni, murder suspected

Khordha: Locals were left in a state of panic in Khudupur village in Jatni on the outskirts of state capital Bhubaneswar today after blood-stained body of a former panchayat samite member was found from a playground.

The deceased has been identified as Rabi Nayak, a resident of Nimabasantpur village under Delang police limits. He had been elected as a panchayat samite member of Haridaspur of Puri district around 10 years ago and was working as an LIC agent in Jatni for past few years.

The incident came to fore this morning after some locals spotted the body lying in a pool of blood with serious head injury at the playground and called up police.

The Twin City Commissionerate Police seized the body for autopsy after reaching the spot later in the morning.

While an investigation is underway in the case police suspect it to be a case of murder over past enmity from the preliminary investigation.
