Ex junior clerk of Tehsildar office in Bargarh convicted in Vigilance trap case

Sambalpur: A former junior clerk of the Tehsildar office in Bargarh district of Odisha was convicted in a Vigilance trap case. He was awarded 1 year RI and fined Rs.10,000.

As per reports, Sailendra Narayan Panda, Ex-Junior Clerk (Retd.), office of Tahasildar, Bargarh, Dist-Bargarh was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.7 dated 31.01.2006 under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7  of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification from a complainant in order to process his file in a mutation case.

The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur on Wednesday convicted and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/-, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months.

L.N. Panda, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and GM Dash, Addl. Special PP, Vigilance, Sambalpur conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
