Ex-District Labour Officer, Nuapada convicted in Vigilance trap case

Nuapada: A former District Labour Officer of Nuapada district was convicted by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.

As per reports,  Panchanan Mallick, Ex-District Labour Officer (Retired), Nuapada was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna in Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.43 dated 10.08.2015 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from a complainant for preparation and issuance of identity cards of 372 numbers of labourers of Nuapada district.

The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna convicted Mallick and sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Dasarathi Sethi, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Koraput Division, A/p-DSP, Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and Ashwini Kumar Sahu, Special PP, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
