Epidemiology team In Deogarh To Observe Odisha’s First Patient Of Delta Plus Covid Variant

Bhubaneswar: After detection of the first case of COVID-19 Delta Plus Variant in deogarh district of Odisha, the state Government has sent an epidemiology team to Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where the patient has been hospitalised.

The epidemiology team will examine about his health status and whether any other person have come in contact with him recently and if they were vaccinated.

The infected person from Deogarh had taken the jab on March 30. He got infected in the next month after coming in contact with another Covid patient. However, he was asymptomatic due to the effect of vaccination. His entire genome has been sequenced in the month of May and he has fully recovered,” informed health director Bijay Mohapatra.

Regarding the Covid situation in the state, special strategies are being adopted in districts with high infection rate. Surveillance and vaccination are being rapidly done. People are not following COVID guidelines and thus the cases are increasing. The influx of people from different districts has led to an increase in infections in Bhubaneswar, he added.

“The Government is a keeping a close watch on the situation and examining on daily basis. A high-committee meeting will be held soon to take a decision on the next course of action after June 30,” informed health officials.
