Elephant tramples man to death in Odisha’s Khurda district

A man was trampled to death by an elephant in a forest near Chattipuru village of Odisha’s Khurda district on Saturday.

Khurda: A man was trampled to death by an elephant in Chattipuru village of Odisha’s Khurda district on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Bidhan Pashchimakabat a resident of Chhattipur.

According to sources, Bidhan along with some other people went into the forest after they heard that over a herd of 22 elephant are there. When they went there, one of the elephant attacked the group. Bidhan was severely injured in the attack.

Following the incident, Bidhan was immediately rushed to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital, where the doctor declared him brought dead.

Reportedly, a herd of 22 elephants are residing in the area for over four days and creating destruction in the area. After receiving information about the incident, forest department officials reached the spot and initiated investigation into the matter, to ensure the safety of people residing in the area.
