Elephant tramples man, nephew to death in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A man and his minor nephew have been trampled to death by a wild tusker near Kholgad Reserve Forest under Redhakhol Forest Division in Sambalpur district on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Dusasan (27) and his nephew Ratik (5), both are the residents of Dimirikuda village in the district.

Reportedly, they were on their cycle on the Vijayawada-Ranchi National Highway while an elephant chased them on the road. They ran into the forest to escape from the tusker, however, the wild elephant trampled them to death.

On getting the information, the officials of Forest Department along with the local police have arrived at the spot. It is being said that the elephant is residing in a nearby forest. The cops have initiated a probe into this matter.
