Elephant herd wreaks havoc in Karanjia of Odisha

Baripada: An elephant herd, comprising of at least 22 jumbos have wretched havoc in Karanjia forest division in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

As per the report, the elephant herd comprising of different age groups sneaked into villages like Sukuli, Rarua, Karanjia, and Jashipur. Last night they wretched havoc and resorted to massive crop damage in the Dayapashi village under Karanjia block. Even they damaged the house of one Jagadish Patra. However, at least 3 people closely escaped from the fury of the jumbos.

In the last four months, jumbos have trampled and killed two people. Adding to that, they have brought much damage to the villages.

Forest officials have rushed to the spot this morning and put the herd under watch.

The herd was last seen near Dayapashi village under Karanjia block, informed forest officials.
