Elephant herd triggers panic in Mayurbhanj village

Baripada: With no respite in sight from jumbo menace in the State, a wild elephant herd entered into Karanjia are in Mayurbhanj district on Friday and left locals in a state of panic.

The herd comprising of around 18 elephants of different age groups was spotted in the Kujiama reserve forest area early in the morning by some locals who called up forest officials.

Later, a team of around 50 forest officials was rushed to the area to keep an eye on the movement of the herd to prevent any possible loss to lives and property.

Notably, no crop damage has been reported by the herd in the area so far.
