Bhubaneswar: Whereas climate change has become a global concern over the last few decades and the road transport sector contributes a major role for rapid increase in the global temperature and therefore, there is need for reduction in the use of fossil fuel and associated emissions. In this aspect Odisha government will take decision following analysis and discussions over promotion of E-Vehicles (EV) in the State, informed Odisha Transport Minister.
India Government had earlier urged upon all States/ Union Territories to adopt a well-defined Electric Vehicle Policy of the State. Accordingly, Odisha Transport department had framed a draft in this regard. However, due to Corona pandemic the work could not go ahead. Soon, discussions will be made in this regard, said the Minister.
It is to be noted that other States including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra are promoting adaptation of EVs.
