Elections 2019 Phase 3: Odisha records 34% voter turnout till 1 pm

Bhubaneswar: An average 34 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 1 PM in six Lok Sabha constituencies and 42 Assembly Segments of Odisha where polling for the third phase of elections was underway on Tuesday, Office of CEO informed.

In Bhubaneswar, 20 per cent voters have cast their vote till 1 PM today. 33 per cent voting recorded in Puri, around 33 per cent each in Cuttack and Dhenkanal, 35 per cent in Keonjhar, 30 per cent in Sambalpur.

Earlier on the day, BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik cast his vote at Booth No-112, Aerodrome Colony UP School here.

The prominent candidates in the fray in this phase include former bureaucrats Arup Patnaik and Aparajita Sarangi from Bhubaneswar, BJD MP Pinaki Mishra and BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri, senior BJD leader and five-time MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and former Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra from Cuttack Parliamentary constituency.

Polling began at 7 AM and long queues were seen outside many booths. Voting is underway peacefully in the state.
