New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the date for the election of 55 Rajya Sabha members of 17 states whose tenures are ending in April this year.
The list of Rajya Sabha members whose seats will be vacated in April includes three from Odisha namely Sarojini Swain, Narendra Kumar Hembram and Ranjeev Biswal whereas the seat of Anubhav Mohanty is lying vacant since he resigned as contested for Lok Sabha seat in the last General Election.
As per the scheduled announced by the ECI, the poll notification would be issued on March 6, the filing of nominations will end by March 13 and polling to be held on March 26, from 9 am to 4 pm.
The counting of votes will take place on March 26.
