Nabarangpur: In a tragic incident an elderly woman was charred to death at her home in Shiba Mandir Sahi under Raighar block in the district today.
The deceased has been identified as Radha Rajganda.
As per the report, the victim was sleeping at her home early in the morning when the mishap took place. Sparks originated from an earthen lamp and later spread to the whole house before she came to know about the mishap.
While some neighbours of the victim swung into action witnessing the house on fire, they failed to rescue the victim.
Fire officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames to send the body for autopsy later in the day.
An investigation is underway in the incident.
