Sambalpur: In yet another rain related mishap in the State, an elderly woman sustained critical injury as the roof of her house caved in and fell on her in Nuapada area of Sambalpur district last night.
The victim has been identified as Laxmi Sahu, a florist by profession.
As per the report, Laxmi, in her sixties was asleep in her room after dinner last night around 11 PM when a portion of the roof of her house weakened by incessant rain for last two days collapsed. The victim came under the debris and sustained grievous injury.
Some neighbours of the victim rushed to the spot immediately after hearing the loud noise of roof collapse and called up fire services officials for rescue.
The victim was later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
