Elderly man killed in wild boar attack in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In yet another case of human-animal conflict in the State, an elderly man was mauled to death by a wild boar in Lundurudihi village under Kuchinda block in Sambalpur district today.

The deceased has been identified as Benjamin Bakla of the same village.

As per the report, Benjamin had been to his farmland located near the village for agricultural purpose in the morning when the predator attack took place. A wild boar which had sneaked into the village since last night pounced on him and mauled badly before fleeing into the nearby forest.

Benjamin, who sustained critical leg injury due to boar-bite bled profusely and died under treatment at Kuchinda Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Forest officials have rushed to the village following the incident to take stock of the situation.
