Elderly man charred to death in Sundergarh house fire

Sundergarh: An elderly man has been burnt to death in a fire which erupted at his house in Gurundia village of Sundergarh district today.

The deceased has been identified as Kedar Singh, a native of neighbouring Jharkhand State.

As per the report, Singh was living in a thatched house in the village along with his wife and the latter had fled to her parental home a few days back over a domestic quarrel, when the mishap took place.

In the morning some neighbours of the deceased witnessed smoke billowing out of his home and rushed to rescue him. Though they managed to save Singh from the flame and rushed to the hospital, he succumbed under treatment later.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Police had not reached the spot till this report was being filed.
