Sambalpur: As many as seven miscreants have attacked and looted cash and gold ornaments from an elderly couple near Sambalpur City railway station on Friday night.
Reportedly, the miscreants had arrived at the house of an elderly man, identified as Shyam Sundar Dalmia, following which a heated argument took place.
It later escalated and they attacked the couple, tied them by the hands and legs, also covered their mouth, and robbed them of cash and gold jewelry.
Notably, the couple’s son was sleeping on the top floor of the house but was unaware of the activities. Hence, the miscreants managed to abscond with Rs 60,000 cash and jewelry amounting to Rs 10 lakh.
On getting information, police reached the spot and collected the CCTV footage. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
