Cuttack: An elderly couple was found murdered at their home at Beleswar village under Madhupatna police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district late on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Srinath Samal, a retired employee of FCI, and his wife Bidyulata Samal.
According to reports, one daughter of the couple telephoned the latter at around 9 PM. As her repeated calls remained unanswered, she sought the help of the neighbours and asked them to check on her parents.
The neighbour found the gate and door opened and blood-soaked bodies of the couple at home.
On being informed, Cuttack DCP Akhileshvar Singh along with other police officials reached the spot and recovered the bodies. The house has been sealed for probe.
Police said, the couple was found dead with slit throats and lying in a pool of blood. The exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is underway, police added.
