Eight Minor Boys Rescued From Rayagada Railway Station

Rayagada: Government Railway Police (GRP) along with the Childline today rescued as many as eight minor boys from Rayagada railway station while they were being trafficked to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

GRP officials said that the minor boys hailed from districts of Rayagada, Koraput and Kalahandi and were being taken to work in a brick kiln in Andhra Pradesh.  However, the agent who was involved in the trafficking racket managed to escape from the spot.

The children were later produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and then sent to a shelter home. The rescued minors will undergo counselling before being handed over to their respective families.
