Eight Fishermen Rescued Off Odisha Coast After Two Weeks

Paradip: Bay Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has rescued eight fishermen from a fishing boat ‘Yohana Devudu’ which was stranded off Odisha coast for 15 days.

Officials said that a group of fishermen from Paradip had ventured into the deep sea and were struck due to turbulent weather, since June 21.

The Assistant Director of Fisheries, Kakinada reported the situation to the ICG which subsequently launched a mission to save the stranded fishermen.

After receiving the SOS, Maritime Rescue Sub Centre, Paradip sailed out ICGS ‘Sarojini Naidu’ for the mission. ICG’s dornier chopper was also deployed in the mission to facilitate sea-air coordination and communication.

Despite inclement weather and rough seas, the ICG men equipped with state-of-the-art technologies rescued the fishermen from the rough Bay of Bengal. The ICGS Sarojini Naidu arrived at Paradip harbour on Saturday.
