Jagatsinghpur: In yet another case of egg hurling in the state, some unidentified men targeted the vehicle of Odia movie star and Rajya Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty during his visit to ‘Ravan Podi’ event in Ersama of Jagatsinghpur district last night.
Informing on the incident during his public address at the gathering later, Anubhav mocked at the attempt and said, it would have been better had the eggs been fed to children instead of being hurled at our vehicles.
The egg hurling took place while the actor was heading to the Ersama ‘Ravan Podi’ venue along with Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prasant Muduli in a cavalcade.
Police resorted to a mild lathi charge following the incident and detained one person in connection with his involvement in the egg hurling.
Notably, expelled BJD leader Damodar Rout was supposed to attend a ‘Ravan Podi’ event in Jagatsighpur earlier. However, the district administration dismantled a pandal erected by his supporters for the purpose at the Anchalika Yuva Parishad ground. Later, Earsama village committee called for a 24-hour market bandh in Jagatsinghpur over the issue on October 20.
