ECoR Makes Safety Appeal To Rath Yatra Passengers

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched a special awareness drive for passengers in overcrowded trains during annual Rath Yatra. Railway administration has also urged the passengers to avoid train journey on footboard, buffers and rooftop of the train compartments for their safe journey.

ECoR has also urged the passengers and voluntary organisations to take special care of the concerned co-passengers and counsel those who are leaning from the running trains, travelling on rooftop, footboard and buffers of the train and passengers carrying inflammable items.

“Railway Protection Force (RPF) will take special measures for crowd control and will keep a watch on touts and anti-socials particularly in crowded areas like Booking and PRS counters, enquiry counters, Tourist Complex and Mela Shed,” said a Railway official.

ECoR has also urged the pilgrims and passengers to use Mobile App like UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) App, Mobile Rath Yatra App ‘ECOR Yatra’ so that they can know all the information by Railways and to book unreserved journey tickets by avoiding the rush in ticket counters.

“We urge all passengers to avail the facilities of Railway Security Helpline “182” which is functional round the clock to report cases of passenger’s security and unsavoury situation during the train journey,” added the official.
