Dutee vows to keep fighting gender caseBy Tazeen Qureshy

Bhubaneswar: Days after the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) said it would reopened the gender case against Dutee Chand, her representative Payoshni Mitra on Saturday confirmed the athlete will fully respond to the submission of IAAF files to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS).

“Dutee intends to fully respond to any submission of the IAAF files with the CAS in an effort to revive the suspended Hyperandrogenism Regulation. The paper that has been published recently by IAAF doctors does not change in any way Dutee’s view that the regulation is unnecessary and not justifiable. She is unable to understand why the IAAF believes she should be subjected to medical review, testing or alteration. She simply wishes to run,” Mitra said in a statement.
Earlier Dutee had also raised concerns over the Athletic body reopening the case.
“It is disheartening to see questions on gender appear everyday on newspaper. Everytime there is a major event, this issue crops up. My lawyer will decide on the course of action. Personally, it is very disturbing for me,” Dutee had said on the sidelines of Asian Athletics Championship.
The Odia girl has won a bronze in 100 metres event, her first ever international medal in the category, on Friday..
“I am happy to win my first international medal in 100 metres, though a gold would have been more satisfying. But I have more categories to participate. Have, I will do better in them.”
