Jajpur: A woman tourist had a close shave on the banks of river Baitarani near Biraja temple here on Friday, after she slipped into the water and was immediately rescued by a group of locals.
The victim has been identified as Kantabai Vyas, a resident of Nizamabad in Telangana State.
As per the reports, a group of at least 10 tourists visited Biraja temple in the district this morning including the victim woman. However, ahead of obtain a darshan of the deity the visitors took a bath at the Dashaswamedha Ghat on the banks of the river Baitarani where Kantabai slipped into the water.
The victim was saved by her fellow travelers with the help of locals who rushed her to Jajpur DHH.
After treatment the victim’s condition is stated to be stable now.
