Driver killed as sand-laden truck touches 11KV wire in Odisha

Kendrapara: Close on the heels of Ganjam bus electrocution which claimed 10 lives a couple of days ago in the state, a driver was killed after his vehicle touched a 11KV transmission line in Mahakalpada area in Kendrapara district today.

The deceased has been identified as Prabhat Sethi.

The mishap took place in Tarpada area of Mahakalpada block of the district this morning when Prabhat was en-route to deliver a sand consignment. He was electrocuted to death after a part of his truck came in contact with low-hanging electric wire.

Police seized the body of the deceased for autopsy later in the day and started an investigation into the case.

Notably, on last Sunday, a private bus namely ‘Silk City’ touched an 11Kv electric wire at Golanthara in Ganjam. At least 10 persons were killed in the mishap and 30 odd sustained injuries.
