Bhanjanagar: In yet another road mishap in the State, at least one person was killed after a brinjal-laden pick-up van overturned near Kalinga Ghati on Bhanjanagar-Phulbani road in Ganjam district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Pratap Pradhan, a resident of Kabisuryanagar area.
Pratap who was working as a driver for a transport company was carrying a brinjal consignment to Phulbani in the pick-up van when the mishap took place at around 1.30 am. Due to some reason he lost control over the wheels of the vehicle causing it to turn turtle.
The victim who got trapped under the mangled van was rescued by the driver of another van and rushed to Bhanjanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital immediately. However, he succumbed under treatment due to critical condition.
Police rushed to the hospital seized the body for autopsy after seizing the mangled van from the accident site.
