‘Drink-from-tap’ facility to begin in Bhubaneswar soon

Bhubaneswar: After Puri, now the Odisha government is mulling over to begin the ‘drink-from-tap’ facility in Bhubaneswar.

In the first phase, the ‘drink-from-tap’ facility will be made available in Saheed Nagar, Satya Nagar, Kharvela Nagar, Bapujee Nagar and Ashok Nagar areas of the State Capital City. The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) is likely to spend Rs 35 core under Smart City Mission for the project. The Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) has already received Rs 10 crore to begin the work.

At present 1.43 lakh beneficiaries have already got the pipe connection and the State government has set a target to provide the ‘drink-from-tap’ facility to the entire residents of the City of Bhubaneswar.

It is to be noted here that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the facility in Puri in 2021. The facility will also be provided gradually to the people of Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Berhampur, sources.
