Khordha: Notorious criminal Subhranshu Parida alias Chhota, who managed to escape during a raid by the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch in Khordha district few days ago, surrendered before a local court here today.
Police said that Parida was the kingpin of brown sugar peddling in Khordha and adjoining areas and have hired more than 150 youths for brown sugar peddling.
“He has provided motorcycles to each of the youths who were escorted by other gang members during transportation of brown sugar. He also used to provide them arms for transportation of the contraband,’ said a police official.
Police said that more than 20 cases are pending against Parida at various police stations in the districts of Khordha, Jajpur and Cuttack. “He was also involved in illegal mining quarry on government land in Khordha,” added the police official.
