Sambalpur: Dreaded criminal Tridev Bagh was detained following an encounter with a joint team of Dhanupali Police and Special Squad on Kulutkani-Dhankauda road in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday.
The criminal, who sustained bullet injuries in his left leg during the encounter, was admitted to Sadar Hospital here.
Based on a tip off about Tridev’s presence in Kulutkani area, a combine team of Dhanupali Police and Special Squad swung into action and raided the place. Seeing the cop, Tridev opened fire at them in a bid to escape. In retaliation, the police too fired and Tridev was hit in his leg.
However, two of his associates managed to flee from the spot.
A pistol, two rounds of ammunition, a toy gun, three mobile phones and cash of Rs 30000 have been seized from his possession, Police said.
At least eight criminal cases had been registered against Tridev at different police stations in the state, police said.
Earlier on September 2, Sambalpur police had arrested hardcore criminal Musim Akhtar alias Bittu following an encounter.
